William I was doing some weather research and saw where you needed info about the Ice Storm of 1970′s. It was I think it started Jan 2, 1974 or Jan 3. My oldest son was born Jan 2, 1974. The dr kept my wife at Jackson General Hosp. Extra days because of storm. Where afraid power would go out in city. It was a big storm. Schools were out about a week if I remember. Most of west tn was effected. Probably the whole state. Hope this helps

Hello Mr. Terry Wallace – I looked up the conditions for the dates you gave me and found out that we did have a Ice Storm with Freezing Rain and Ice Pallets ( Sleet ) both of those days. All of the Frozen Precipitation melted down amounted to 0.87″ – The Lo on the 2nd was 18° and the Hi was 29° and on the 3rd the Lo was 22° and the Hi was 31° – This was on Jan. 2 and 3rd of 1974. I hope that helps answer your weather history question. Thanks for your interest in this.
